Regularly, ASL offers preparatory courses for the TestDaF-examination. Directly after completing the course, the test can be taken at the ASL language school.
If passing the TestDaF exam, you will be handed a certificate which is recognised by all universities and other higher education institutes in Germany. This certificate is not only required for admission to secondary or higher education, but it also is attesting that you have sufficient German language skills required e.g. for working in Germany.
The TestDaF consists of four parts, one each examining reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing skills and speaking skills. Unlike the DSH exam or the telc C1 Hochschule, the TestDaF focuses more on the communicative competences of the candidates rather than the compliance with grammatical rules or structures. Should you reach at least TDN 4 in each subtest, you can study at every university in Germany. Since every university has its own admissions policy, some universities admit applicants whose scores are below TDN 4 to courses of study. Nevertheless, you have to reach at least TDN 3.
