Not only citizens of the EU and migrants from Non-EU states who have emigrated recently to Germany, but also people with a migration background who have lived in Germany for a longer period, can or must attend an integration course which can be funded by the Federal Office of Migration and Refugees (BAMF), in order to learn German or improve their German language skills. The conditions for participating in an integration course are permanent residency in Germany and a valid Residence Permit. In some cases, exemptions can be made. Those who want to live and work in Germany need to master the German language as without sufficient knowledge of German, it is difficult or impossible to find a good job with adequate pay in the labour market.
Integration courses are the best and most cost-effective way to learn German. At ASL, you learn the language in the shortest possible time in a pleasant atmosphere where the teachers take care of all the needs of the participants. Hundreds of foreign citizens who have studied German in our school have been more than satisfied with the quality of the lessons. The integration course consists of two parts: a language course and an orientation course. Whereas the language course aims at learning German as a second language, the orientation course focuses on the legal system, culture and history of Germany.
In total, the general integration course includes 700 lessons:
|Basic course:||Modules 1 – 3||300 lessons|
|Advanced course:||Modules 4 – 6||300 lessons|
|Orientation course:||100 lessons|
ASL offers these integration courses on an on-going basis at all levels. Participants with sufficient prior language ability can start at a higher level. To find out which module is suitable, the student takes a placement test before starting the course. At the end of the Integration Course participants take the DTZ Level B1 exam (German Test for Immigrants), and after the Orientation Course they take the LID (Life in Germany) exam.
|Language levels:||A1.1 | A1.2 | A2.1 | A2.2 | B1.1 | B1.2|
|Number of lessons per week:||25 lessons (à 45 minutes)|
|Timetable:||mondays through fridays 8.45 – 13.00 or|

Some participants don’t have to pay the course fee as they are legally entitled to a free integration course. This will be the case, if you receive Unemployment Benefit II (Arbeitslosengeld II), Income Support (Sozialhilfe) or are on a low income.
